Discovery Bay

Discovery Bay is located at the coastal area of northeast Lantau. It was a little village called “Tai Pak Wan Tsuen” but is now transformed into an epitome of Hong Kong the international cosmopolitan in which inhabitants are mostly foreigners. Discovery Bay is also a green city – trees and garden everywhere, a beautiful beach, a walking trail and a pavilion. Besides, air in that place is particularly fresh as it is almost free of motorcars; only public transport vehicles and golf cars are allowed.

Discovery Bay is a self-contained area where all kinds of cuisine, varying from Chinese to Indian to Thai or Japanese, are available in Discovery Bay plaza near the pier. There are garden, sidewalk café, fountain and a stage for performance in the piazza, which is suitable for both resting and making entertainment performance.

A convenient round-the-clock ferry service will take you to Discovery Bay from Central in around 25 minutes. Visitors may also take a shuttle bus to and from Tung Chung MTR Station and the new airport. The trip is about 20 minutes. Visitors can take a 10 minutes rustic boat trip to Peng Chau for a glimpse of village life as well.

Discovery Bay is the closest residential area to Hong Kong Disneyland and Inspiration Lake Recreation Centre. It takes around 15 minutes to get to Hong Kong Disneyland from Discovery Bay. From Discovery Bay, you can also see the firework show in Disneyland from afar. (The fireworks display has been temporarily suspended to cater for the construction works of Hong Kong Disneyland.)
